On Saturday, April 28, more than 525 pieces of artwork created by local elementary and middle school students will be on display at Cheney Mansion (220 N. Euclid Avenue, Oak Park, IL). Artwork from 66 student artists from Park, Ogden, Congress Park, Cossitt, and Forest Road will be on display in the expo. This free event is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. This marks the fourth consecutive year that 15 school districts in the West Suburban Consortium for Academic Excellence (WSCAE) are hosting the expo to showcase K-8 student artwork.
During the event, student artists will discuss their creations with the general public, and get input on the pieces from a number of local professional artists. There will also be live demonstrations led by the Oak Park Art League, and a chance for attendees to show their support for the students by sending them “fan mail” that highlights what they like best about their work.
All of the WSCAE districts are scheduled to participate in the event. These districts include: Butler District 53, Community Consolidated School District 181, Franklin Park District 84, Gower District 62, Hillside District 93, LaGrange District 102, LaGrange District 105, LaGrange Highlands District 106, Komarek District 94, Pleasantdale District 107, Oak Park Elementary School District 97, River Forest District 90, Riverside District 96, Union Ridge District 86 and Western Springs District 101.
